Electrostatic separator separates metal from plastic by means of electrostatic separation

hamos KWS electrostatic separator is used for the dry separation of metals from plastics and other non-conductive materials. Even the finest metal particles smaller than 0.1 mm can be separated by electrostatic separation.

This makes it possible in a particularly economical way,- to recover valuable metals, to separate them or to clean plastics from metal parts using electrostatic separation before further processing.

Requirements for your electrostatic separation material

To achieve an optimum separation result, the material mixtures to be separated must be as follows:

  • Conductor/non-conductor mixture (e.g. metal and plastic)
  • Completely digested material (no material composites)
  • Dry material (ideal surface moisture less than 0.2%)
  • Largely dust-free material
  • Particle size from 100 μm to max. 8 mm

You are not sure whether your material is suitable for electrostatic separation? Send us a material sample of approx. 5 kg after consultation. We will use it to demonstrate the performance of our electrostatic separators.

We will show you what metal yield and throughputs you can achieve with an electrostatic separator for your material. Based on these separation results, you will receive our test report and quotation.

The operating principle of electrostatic separators

The hamos KWS electrostatic separator separates conductive products from non-conductors.

The metal mixture to be separated is fed via a vibratory feeder onto a rotating, grounded metal roller and transported to the area of a corona electrode.

There, the material mixture is electrostatically charged by high voltage of up to 35,000 volts.

Conductive materials (metals) then very quickly release their charge to the roller and are thrown off by the rotating motion. Non-conductors, on the other hand, lose their charge only very slowly, remain attached to the surface of the metal roller and are finally brushed off. The material mixture is thus separated by electrostatic separation into a conductor and a non-conductor fraction.

Based on the principle of charging, these separators are also called corona roll separators.

Professionals work with professionals

After 21 years of operation, our experience with the hamos WRS window recycling plant is very positive. The plant is an important part of our process. It helps us to achieve our targets. It guarantees the highest quality required for the PVC and thus increases the overall performance of our process. The hamos plant is indispensable and "closes our recycling loop."

- Bodo Streubel, Operations Manager of Dekura Bad Schmiedeberg

We are very satisfied with the standard hamos GmbH has achieved. Previously, it was not possible to sort PVC from profile sections and production remnants fully automatically to this high standard of quality and purity. This development has helped us to completely close the material loop in window profile production. A new world-class standard was born.

- Jörg Ipfling, Manager Recycling Technology Window Solutions at Rehau

The electrostatic recycling systems of HAMOS make a very important contribution to the recycling process of PVC windows due to their good separation performance.

- ppa. S. Lengnick, Production Management, VEKA Umwelttechnik GmbH

The separation systems supplied by hamos are an essential part of ensuring the highest quality of products supplied by Metal-Plast to the market. By using hamos solutions we have increased the processing capacity of our plant and the products manufactured by Metal-Plast are of the highest quality.

- Grzegorz Jasiński, Chairman of the Board
